“I normally talk myself out of doing things like this…”
That’s how Aaron Moon, COO of Inspire Investing, began our conversation when he pulled me into his office to ask a pivotal question. “Should I surprise everyone at the packing event by dressing up as Santa Claus?” The event Mr. Moon was referring to was an annual party for Inspire staff members, their spouses, and children to pack shoeboxes with toys and essential items for underprivileged children around the world. The problem I saw with his question was that the event was starting in 30min, and to my knowledge, he did not own a Santa costume. To which he replied, “I can reserve one across the street for pick up in 15 min.” I responded to him the only way I knew how.
“I think you owe it to the children, and to the real St. Nick to represent him during an event that literally made him famous…”
What decision did our Chief Operating Officer make? Well, I think a picture is worth a thousand words….
While seeing my 4-year old son light up when he saw “Santa” was a memorable moment, for the past few years, we have partnered with Samaritan’s Purse and their Operation Christmas Child program that shares the gospel of Jesus Christ to children in need. And that by far is what truly makes this event one to remember.
Seven hundred boxes, representing seven hundred children and their families being given essential supplies is difficult to grasp. But even more staggering than getting a box of toys and necessities is that the good news of Jesus Christ, giving life to all of us who are spiritually poor will be preached to each recipient of the boxes we packed. All this ministry is being funded by the Inspire Give50 program, where we donate fifty percent or more of our corporate net profits to Christian ministries like Samaritan’s Purse. That means when you invest with Inspire, you are part of making this Kingdom impact happen!
Since 2009 more than 26.5 million children have heard the saving gospel message of Jesus Christ through Samaritan Purse’s 12-week children’s discipleship program called The Greatest Journey. Through their partnership with local churches, these children learn from trained, local volunteers about what it means to be a follower of Jesus and share their faith with friends and family. Inspire’s CEO, Robert Netzly, was able to begin the spiritual journey of these boxes by sharing the true meaning of Christmas with the families of Inspire, and together we were able to pray over each of the children who will receive a box.
It’s a humbling thing to be part of a company whose mission is to inspire transformation for God’s glory and truly live it out with each day. When you live and work with a mission, your co-workers become more than just colleagues, they become family. So from our family to yours, we pray you too are inspired to transform this world for God’s Kingdom and His Glory. Merry Christmas!
